Plants burning..

Hi Guys: On my 90 gallon tank I have 190 watts of light coming from one CF 110w and two 40w plants lights. The trouble I am having is that the top of my plants are burning when they reach near the top of the water. I have tried the last few days just using the CF at 110w and things look better. That gives me only about 1.3 wpg. Why are the plants burning with both lights on, any ideas? Thanks-

What do mean by burning, and which plants are doing this? Some plants will normally turn a more red/brown colr when they got close to the light at the top of the tank. Hygro corymbosa does this among others.

By burning I mean they get transparant looking and then sort of rot where the light hits. Sort of like a house plant does when there is too much sun on it. Do you know what I mean? Or like lettuce does when you first plant it in the garden until it adjusts to the sunlight. Can you tell I'm a gardener?? LOL. Thanks for your help-

I suspect they are out of food... Lot's of light, but nothing to eat, and they turn just white. What are your NO3 levels? Do you add micro nutrients?

I dont believe it is a lack of food as I use Flourish and add nitrate using stump remover.I know what you mean by the white look and this is different. It is not the whole leaf even, just the spot and it is a "burned" look. Wish I had a camera, sorry. Thanks for helping-

I agree. Sounds like your plants are running out of food. I have had plants growing under 5wpg about 4cm from CF lights and never had any burning.

It is the taller broad leaf ones. Swords and crypts. I have watersprite right by the light and it is beautiful! Thanks -
