i was thinking of switching out my ge chroma 50s for 2 more ge 6500k daylightbulbs because the 6500k seems brighter than the chroma. would this be better or should i keep the chromas?

Brighter to the eye does not necessarily mean better for plants. Plants prefers the blue and red parts of the color spectrum, which the human eye has a harder time perceiving. However, if you just want brighter for the look, go for it.

There are more important things than color spectrum when dealing with plants - for instance Watts being the heaviest and PAR as well. Color spectrum is better used by the aquarist to find a color of personal taste.

The Phillips F40DX (daylight deluxe) is a "blue" bulb, the chroma 50's are "yellow", the F40DX also has a slightly higher initial lumen rating, although it's CRI is slightly lower
