2 F40T12 = enough light for low tech 75g setup?
I've had aquariums for a long time but just diving into the planted world for the time with my new 75g tank. I know its a bit of a crazy gamble to start planting in a tank that size but I have wanted to do it for a long time and am starting fresh without fish so I have time to build it slowly.
The tank came with a hood that has two Philips F40T12/Plant & Aquarium 40 Watt bulbs in it. One of the bulbs works, the other is out. Before I get a replacement--is this the right kind/enough lighting for me to build a low tech planted aquarium in this tank? The tank is 48" wide rectangular 75 gallon. I am looking for low maintenance planting...
If not, then what would you recommend? Are there better bulbs that would fit into the same hood?
