Help Needed: Waterproof LED Strip(s) for Fluval View

Hey guys, I purchased a Fluval View on clearance for $25. I have it planted and set up, about to move my betta into it. There are two problems though.

First, the integrated LED is on the same power supply as the filter. That means I can't run it on a timer without turning off the filter. I could probably splice the power cords, but this brings us to the second problem, which is that I don't think the stock lighting is bright enough for the plants I want to grow.

So ideally, I'd like to get some strip lighting to mount at various points on the hood. I could then run those lights consistently on a timer and supplement with the stock light as needed. Any suggestions on good strip lights in the right color spectrum that have adhesive backing?

I might be able to fit the 12.5" in the front. I'm assuming the 8000K white? I was actually looking for something that could be separated.
