I just got the light in today and have been setting it up and playing with the light. I have a 10 gallon low tech tank I set up about a month ago that I have been running a beams work 300 lumen light that has been barely enough light to have moss and dwarf sag survive.
A few things I noticed:
The light is very bright. When I turned it upside down and turned it on it hurt my eyes. It is as bright as my finnex planted.
It runs luke warm. It is not as hot to the touch as my finnex planted but is a little warm.
The controller has to face the remote or the remote will not work. It is not terribly picky. Works fine for me.
The remote works great across my room.
The light sits in a perfect position above the tank, just high enough to not sit on the glass. The legs are sturdy and function better than my beamswork.
The front to back light is not as good as the beams work, but this light is 2 or so inches wide and me beams work is around 8.
I am able to dim each color individually and save the preference.
I set the time and then set my light to come on at 2pm and off at 10 pm. I believe it will ramp on at 1:45pm and ramp off at 10:00 pm, we will see.
The storm and cloud effects work and are nice to have.
The preset moonlight is a little purple, but nice. I set my own moonlight color.
Right now I have the daylight set at 50/100. I turned down the red, green, blue and white to 50%, so I'm unsure where I am at par values. If full bore is 105, I would think that 50/100 would be 52.5 par, but it doesn't look that bright. If I can get my hands on a par meter, I will run some tests.
Thats all I can think of at the moment.
