hi, i understand how to overdrive lights, but my question is what parts do you get for it? i.e. the hood, the bulb sockets, what do you use to house the overdriven light bulbs? i ask because i do not have a canopy.

Haha... I also have the same question. I was just too embarassed to ask first  .

My next question is what if I have a regular fixture (like allglass). I don't see any screw to take it apart. Do I just cut thru it or there is a way to open it up?

Not sure where you want to house it, perhaps in a rectangular something that goes on top of the tank??

You need a ballast, the endcaps (or some other means of connecting the ballast wires/holding the lamps), and a power cable. Bulbs of course. On equipment, you need screws, screwdriver, and perhaps a soldering iron, unless you use wire nuts, which work too. Some clamps to hold the wires in place.

Nino, ouch, don't cut yet... I think if you remove the bulb, you will see some little caps, remove them and they should expose regular Phillips screws (may vary by brand and model...).

Here is a link to the way I housed my bulbs for my 30g. I am doing something similar for a 50g currently.

I didn't have an existing canopy/hood to fit the bulbs into so I made one.;highlight=diy

hubba, I'd make a canopy out of wood. It's not hard, following one of the dozens of good plans online, and gives you the most flexibility.

Nino, some light strips simply hold the reflector in place by squeezing the reflector behind a lip (such as the case on my CSL). If you can't find any screws, try prying back one edge of the reflector to see if it will pop out.

Depends on how you want it to look..

You can even buy $7 shop light fixtures and ODNOize them, the reflectors are superb but they'll do..

I am planning to build me a new hood and I was going to run 4 - 48" bulbs all overdriven, mix-n-match bulbs, over my 75..
