I have a 55 gallon tank and I want to get atleast 2 Watts per gallon and also have a light/hood that goes from dusk to dawn where a blue or darker light will go on berfore the brigther light/s go on...
I was thinking about the Moon-Lite but CustomSeaLife ceased its businees so I guess thats no longer an option becasue the warranty is voided then

I am wonderi1ng what all you recommend?
Metal Halide lights, Flurescent ETC what do you all recommend?

Hey Loko, is your tank almost ready?

I would use the aqualight double strips pc but will give you over 3 watts/gl. Or if you really insist of 2 watts/gl, you can get the Allglass 2x55 watts 36" PC fixture.

IF your reason to do the dusk to dawn effect just not to scare the fish, you can just use your original Fl fixture (do you have it?) and put 5000K bulb (or any bulb your choice) and set the timer to turn it on before the PC is on.

I want the dusk to dawn light because I like how it creates the natural enviroment but also I like it so it doesnt get fully bright quickly...

Is there any good light/hood that comes with strong day lighting and dusk to dawn lighitng that turnes on before the full lights to promote natural enviroment?

Easiest/cheapest way to get over 2wpg and enable a dusk/dawn setup is to run four regular 40w tubes over your 55g. You can bring them on in pairs (if they're wired two to a ballast) or singly if they are overdriven (one bulb to a ballast).
