PAR 20/30/38 LED Lamps

Long story short, I had to break down my 90 gallon tank last month because we had several pipes break in our house (only in the dining room / fish room of course), and we are moving in a few months, so I'm going to convert it to an emersed setup for now.

Anyways, I was at Lowes earlier getting supplies for the emersed build and saw their Utilitech PAR 20/30/38 LED lamps. I have a few of those Dayco clip-on dome fixtures with some 23W CFL bulbs (6500K) and was wondering if I could swap out those bulbs for some of the Utilitech 5000K PAR 20/30/38 lamps, provided that they fit in the first place? If I could,

1) would you recommend them over the current CFL bulbs, and
2) could I place the dome lights directly on top of a glass lid? I think it would be okay for the CFLs, but I'm not sure about the LEDs: I think I need more air flow to keep them cool than would be possible with them sitting directly on a glass lid.

There won't be much airspace for the light to travel before hitting the plants in the tank. I am thinking about putting some egg crate shelf in the tank and keeping the tank ~1/2 full (so 10-12" from the soil to the light).

Thanks in advance!

I've been using PAR38LEDs on my 40 for two years, I think they are outstanding. See my sig line link.

How much heat do these things put out? I'm debating on going for the PAR20's since they will fit in the domes, but I'm still unsure if I can put them directly on a glass lid. I don't want to set up pendants with me moving in just a few months. Although I guess I could get some conduit tubing and go from there...
