Let me run an idea across my friends here

Here is the scenario...75 gal with Custom Sea Life 2x65..6700k bulbs...plants are doing fine

The goal...sunrise...full day...sunset effect
Add a timer and another CSL but with either 5500l bulbs or8800k bulbs
Depending on possible solutions
HAve the dimmer bulbs(5500 or 6700) come on first...then midday, the brighter bulbs(6700 or 8800) comes on and dimmer bulb goes off, evening the brighter bulb goes off and dimmer bulb comes back on until lights out

Hope I didnt confuse anyone....

Does this make sense???
I dont want to run both at the same time because I am not using CO2 right now...but I see IT IS something I will need in the future

ANy suggestions will be greatly appreciated

On a 75 gallon you need to be running both 65w lights. I don't think you can afford to use one of the 65w bulbs only for the sunrise/sunset purpose. If I read you're question correct you want bulb A on at 10am, bulb B on at 11am (bulb A now goes off). Bulb B stays on until 8pm (Bulb A comes back on) and bulb A off at 9pm.

This does not make very effective use of your lighting system. Only 2 hours of the day would both bulbs be on producing light.

You need every bit of that 130w total output you have for 10-12 hours each day.

Maybe I'm confused and read your post wrong?

HeyAJ
Yeah I wasnt meaning bulbs
I was meaning Light fixtures themselves
At this time I have a Custom SeaLife Power Compact 2x65..6700k bulbs in it
I have the means for another Custom SeaLife and wanted to know How could I create a dawn...full daylight...dusk effect with the two CSL's

I apologize for the confusion
From what I am reading there is little difference between 5500, 6700, 8800
The difference is mainly in hues(color)

It's not that the bulbs are dimmer but just a different color temp. I would just use a standard strip light to accomplish what you want to do. It's much cheaper.

Here's how I do it (so far really positive results too)
75 gallon tank, 110 watts of GE 9325's come on at 10:30am. 3 hours later another 110watts comes on for about 5.5 hours. Then we're back to 110watts of the GE's until 9:30pm.
After all 220watts are on, the plants pearl the rest of the day, even when I'm back to 110watts for the last 3 hours.

The bulbs that run in the middle of the day are 1 6700Kand 1 8800K. The GE's are half used up, so that's why they're on 11.5 hours...they were free from a friend, so I decided to use them up before installing brand new GE's that I've already purchased.
This is all going on in my custom built canopy

Does anyone have websites for those strip lights?????

I went to one website and the price on a striplight was 100 bucks...I can get another Custom Sea Life Power Compact 2x65 for 92 bucks. but that would make both lights running 3.54 per gal...I dont have CO2...

Any ideas???suggestions????

A standard strip light? Any normal mail order or brick and mortar shop will have a standard NO strip light.
