Lighting opinions?

I have a 75gal. tank that is currently being used as a growout tank. I want to make sort of a low tech plant tank out of it. By low tech, I mean the only plants would be 2 or 3 amazon swords planted in Flourite, and use root tabs for feeding. The rest of the tank bottom would be covered in pool filter sand with a piece of driftwood, both already in the tank. I would also use the existing filtration, which is an Ocean Clear 354 polybead filter. I was thinking of getting an AH supply 1 x 96 watt light kit to retrofit the existing strip light fixture, since AH claims their reflectors are so good they can use less watts for the same light output. I don't want too much or too little light, just enough to keep swords fairly healthy. The tank would house 4 adult discus, so there will be more than average water changes, for this reason, I don't want to mess with CO2 and dosing on this tank. What do you think? Will this lighting work for what I need, or would it just be algae soup?
