Number of LEDs for this tank?
I'm building a fixture for my wife's planted tank... I'm a reef guy and have built led fixtures for my world of coral, but I'm out of my element with helping her with freshwater plants, so this seems the place to ask.
My prerequisite for the fixture... I want her to be able to grow anything she might ever reasonably want to grow. It will have a dimmer to tone it down but if she takes a shine to a high light plant, I want the light source to be adequate.
I have read all the stickys and write ups I could find, but I still don't have a warm and fuzzy, so I'm hoping someone here can answer (or give an experienced/educated opinion on) these two questions... 1) How many LEDs would you run. 2) What color or mix of colors.
Info on the tank:
The tank is about 37 gallons, 36"x12" and 20" tall and the fixture will be suspended above, and I will put the appropriate lenses on the emitters to focus the spread. For my tanks I run Phillips Rebels at 700ma @ 3V, for hers I will either go with the same Phillips Rebels or Cree emitters, probably the Phillips unless someone just makes an overwhelming case for the Crees.
Thanks in advance!
