T5HO heat? fan recommended if needed??

hey, on my 120G ( 120G semi planted (new photos 7/28/2013) ) new build im using some T5HO lighting probably 4 day time bulbs (10,000K) and 2 blue atinic night lights, should i use a fan to keep it cool or no? i have never used T5HO lights befor.

Are you using a commercially available fixture? If they have a fan mounted on them, I would leave them where they are, but if they do not have a fan (or fans), then there is probably no need for them.

On another note, those 2 actinic lights will not really be useful for plants.

they are just lights from my local home depot... and the actinic light are just for night i like the look of them i know they dont do anything for plants...

this is what im using for t5ho fixtures...

A fan is probably not required, but it could help remove some heat from the aquarium (lights tend to raise the temperature of the water, so if you are keeping (say) sensitive shrimp, you may want to install some fans).

In addition, it will also depend on the type of enclosure you use (i.e. if you have a completely closed canopy, etc).

yea im not keeping anything real sensitive but i will be making my own canopy that will be 90% closed off

You can try it without a fan first; you may notice your water temperature increasing by several degrees without the fans, but if it is within your acceptable tolerance, then you won't have to do anything.

alright thanks and i think that will be good as im only running one heater in the tank and its set to around 80 degrees

That's a pretty high temperature setting you have...what are you keeping?
