Getting ready to start up these guys. 18.5h x 10.5d with ~1/4" glass. Planning on doing one shrimp & snails and one possibly pea puffer, otos, snails.

Both medium planted; prolly low carpet in front and 1-3 bigger in the back like swords, finnidens, or whatever.

2" MGCOPM + 1" black beauty sand cap.

They will be next to each other, so that's about 21", so planning on using a AH 55w PC bright kit directly above (so like 15" above substrate).

No co2 or ferts, hoping to do these closed system = corked top, but we'll see.

Wondering about how light will behave with this irregular shape and if the cork would cause a dark spot.

Any thoughts or advice?

Closed system? Where are you going to get O2 exchange if the top is sealed?

I would stick with just shrimps and snails. it's likely reproduction wont happen fast enough to feed the puffer... or other fish.

Water is not going up to the top. I would fill it somewhere between the last two lines at the top.
