Hey just wondering if anyone utilizes " Blast Lighting" in their planted tanks? 96 watts on for 8 eight and out of those 3 hours are with 144 watts total of T5 HO and yes I use CO2 Injection at 30ppm for the most part. 4 inches above the tank that is probably 16 inches with substrates and moderately heavy planted tank. Dry and premixed ferts. Starting a carpet as we speak. 45 gallons and all water parameters are on point. Now do you think that is overkill?
You might have heard by reading this forum or maybe not that watts isn't the measure by which to determine how much light is produced. It is a measure to determine only how much electrical energy is used in one hour.
Also you didn't mention what type of T5HO bulb [which is only a bulb type designation] you are using. So I don't know if anyone can with confidence say that is overkill. Perhaps with a bit more specific info we can.
Thank you Steve001 for your time. I utilize Fluval Life Spectrum at 6700k along with a Plantmax 6500k that both go on at 0900 -5:00 pm ( Front of the tank) 45 minutes after my CO2 injection is on. Then at 10:00am my Geisemann Aquaflora and Midday bulbs turn until 6pm ( Rear of the tank). But in the middle section I have another set of Geisemann bulbs ( Aquaflora and Midday) that are on from 2-4 pm. I EI dose my ferts and I am a little heavy on the Iron at times. No phosphorous but what is in my fish food and Delta GH+ that raises my gH. I water change from 1-3 times a week since Im neurotic. Oh I have a moonlight that is set to turn on at 7pm till 10 pm..
