lighting help

Hello everyone-
I am thinking about going the diy route for lighting my soon to be planted ADA 45-p. I would like to shoot for med/high light, just enough to grow most plants. I currently have 24watts over an 8 gallon cube and find it to be just the right amount of light for my plants.
My plans are to make a hanging hood (ada style) using ADA's 36watt bulbs. My question is, would one 36watt bulb be enough par for the plants and provide enough spread over the 45-p? Or would you go 2x36watt? I plan on using high quality AHSupply reflectors. Thank you for your time!
