90 Gal Lighting

Hello guys and Gals.. I'm posting this today because I'm purchasing a 90 gallon tank this Sunday and I'm going to be planting it heavily. Does anyone have any experience with Glosso (glossostigma)? Does anyone know what lighting is suitable in a 90 gallon tank to grow it.

What should I be looking for when im purchasing my lights? I've read WPG is outdated and doesn't work..Should I check Kalvins?

I will attach a picture of the new tank..I believe I will need to purchase a new fixture but if anyone has any insight or advice for me I would appreciate it. I would also like to stress I cant afford a $600 fixture so something affordable.

ps.. the fish don't come with the tank :P

**Edit...also I know its a little off topic but, What is a good, affordable co2 system that I can purchase.. preferably with a solenoid so i don't have to worry about it too much after i set it up with the exception to filling the tanks. How does one determine what the perfect 'balance' Light and Co2?

Would a '48" Coralife 4x65w Power Compact w/ LEDs' be sufficient, insufficient or overkill?

Sale includes:
[U]'Up for sale is a 48" Coralife Power Compact light fixture - 4 x 65 watt with 4 blue LEDs.

2 bulbs are 6,700k, 2 bulbs are 10,000k, + an extra set of bulbs (4 used).'

I'm completely lost =\

I've found someone selling a second hand one for $125 is this a fair price? or should i save it and invest it into stronger lights?

Don't buy that light or anything power compact. You are better off getting a t5ho fixture. There is a thread about par and different light fixtures you will want to read.

I think a 4x54W Catalina fixture will work well for you. You will definitely need CO2 with that amount of light (and glosso will benefit from it). A cheap regulator would be an aquatek regulator with a standard US tank. The regulator is about $80-100 on eBay and works nicely (includes a reliable solenoid from my experience). The only problem is the needle valve that you can replace. As for balance - well, that's what the experts are here for. I can't give you the best info on that.

I agree with Yankee about the 4x54 watt light from Catalina !!
And if you wanna go the LED route ,
To can get 2 x 48in Finnex LED lights

The Catalina will run you $170-$190
The led , $300-$320 for 2

I have used 4x 55w CFL on a 75g for years and it's a good amount of light.
Don't bother with the used bulbs - and you'll want to replace your new bulbs yearly to keep your light levels optimal.

Does anyone have a link or picture of the Catalina light fixture? I will definitely be doing the co2... I like the aquatec co2 regulator and it will probably be the one I get with a 5lb tank.

When buying the lights should I buy 2x 6500k and 2x10000k or 4x6500k?

Sounds good I will give this a try... But quick question.. Are the 'plant grow' florescents readily available in stores like big Als? I ask cause its going to be a pain to have them shipped every time I need a replacement

So i stumbled upon this graph in another thread

http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/sh...30#post2656130

What do you guys suggest? 3 t5ho or 4 T5HO? Should I put legs on it to make sure it's it too intense?

GBR1 - Spike
GBR2 - TBD
EBR - Blue
