Another LED option

I am, like many, looking at LED lighting to replace the 240 w of CFL I currently run over my 21" deep 75g high light setup. I found this site and am wondering if anyone had tried these:
http://www.led-grow-master.com/AquaBar.html
It's a lot of clams to lay out for something untested!
I want to grow glossostigma etc. and I know that most LED setups can't provide the penetration needed for demanding foreground plants...or so I have heard(?)
Thanks in advance.

Hi Fishmommy,

I agree with your comment and that is a lot of money for an untested product. Here is a great thread on LED fixtures and upgrades.

I have been testing some LED upgrades from AH Supply (see post #228 pg 16). I have tested the 20 watt and last week I received their 26 watt LED lamp array.

I have tested both the 20 watt and 26 watt over my tank to a depth of 15" but not deeper as of yet. Let me see I can can get you some information on deeper depths. Is your tank 21" or is it 21" from the top to the substrate level?

Have you looked at the Finnex Ray II? Considerably cheaper for a 48" length fixture.

Ugh. Only 9.6W...

From their site:

Quote:
Energy Use-
LGM660- 7.2 Watts
LGM550- 9.6 Watts
Aqua-Bar- 9.6 Watts
Less than 10W power, or about the power requirements of a single modern LED (Cree XML).

Hi Fishmommy,

I just finished testing the AH Supply LED lamp arrays and here are the results:

At an 18" depth in a filled aquarium, the 20 watt had a PAR reading of 85 which would be considered medium/high light

At an 18" depth in a filled aquarium, the 26 watt had a PAR reading of 120 which would be considered high light

To get adequate coverage on an 18" front to back aquarium you may need two rows of LED lamp arrays with two (2) 26 watt lamp arrays in each row. I would suggest you contact Kim at AH Supply if you need additional information.

45 Gallon tall (24" deep) with AH Supply 26 watt LED lamp array

Thank you!
I just looked at the AH Supply (I use their CFL retrofit kits on many of my tanks) and the 26 W LED strips are 22" long... Would that mean using four?

Edit: yep. You answered that already!

Just wanted to throw in a shameless plug for AH Supply. Though I'm not going with them for my pc to led switchover, I can say that Kim, the owner, is a standup guy who always has time for the customer. And his gear is top notch.

Hi veryzer,

+1; you are absolutely right on your comments about Kim! BTW, I will be posting some truly remarkable PAR readings for the AHS LED Lamp arrays.
