LED for Planted tank

I was reviewing the following site: www.buildmyled.com/ does anyone have and experience with this companies lights.

Also, I was thinking of getting (4) 12in strips to go from front to back for my 125 Gallon rather than (1) or (2) 72in strips across. Any thoughts?

Give Nick a call and he can give you a lighting model for your tank using various lengths and setups to weigh your options and costs.

There's 30 LEDs on a 24" fixture.

Ok.. so 3 to 4 LED are a tad too expensive. I may look into 2 x 36in LED instead. I have the standard Aqueon (All Glass) 125 gallon 6' tank which has 2 cross braces for the glass tops. Will the 36" in sit correctly on them if I use the mounts, or will I need to place them flat on the glass?

Two 36" strips with a 90 degree beam angle should allow growth for whatever you're planning but Nick can do a cool model to guarantee that. Re: the mounts, I have mine directly on the glass. Are the braces every 24" then? Either way, especially if you plan to leave the glass in top, I wouldn't plan on being able to mount the lights. Contact Nick; he'll give you a frank answer.

I communicated with Nick via email. He suggested a 72 in with 90 degree angle Show tank light. I'm torn between the Show Tank and the Planted tank lighting. the PT shows the red plants little more vividly where the ST doesn't highlight red plants. Although I probably won't have a lot of red plants, I'm undecided. I have seen the comparison photos on BML site, but does anyone have a video of the two different light fixtures?

I have (4) of their 30" planted fixtures on my 135gal. I should've gone with 36" as I forgot about my center brace. So, they built me (2) nano strips to go in the middle to prevent shadowing.

Expensive, yes. However, only the up front cost is high. They pay for themselves quickly over the Coralife 384W power compacts I had before. The bulb replacement costs, energy savings is 42% for me, and not mention no more nagging fan noise and a ton of heat.

I love them. Nick from bml is figuring up my PAR as we speak. I need this data.

I worked on a much smaller scale but perhaps my prep/build threads could give you some help.

Just ordered the "dutch planted tank" LED from BML for my 125 non CO2 tank. Does anyone have this light set up on their tank? I'll let you know how it works out. I did buy the optional dimmer just in case it get an algae outbreak
