Psyched with my CL find! Will this work?

I found a Coralife 48" CFL Lunar Aqualight. It features 4 21" CFL's ( I am thinking two 6500k and two 10,00k bulbs) with directional LED's. It is an older model of this (possibly the same model) http://coralifeproducts.com/Files/Pr...ight-08609.jpg

I am getting it for a great price!

Will this be too much for a standard 55 Gal or 75 Gal?

I have a 55 sitting in the basement and this will either go on her or spur a sale of a 55 and search for a 75. I may set up the 55 for a while since funds are low, then move the light to an new to me 75.

The temporary 55 would be a Kribs and Crypt's tank with a big piece of drift simulating a tree root system on the left and a stacked rock cave on the right. I would want an almost half-pipe like substrate. This tank would be pretty heavily planted with Crypts, Moss, Bacopa and Rotala.

Will this fixture work and not melt the plants?

I wouldn't use the 10K bulbs & also I would probably get some new bulbs to replace all the existing ones with 6500k.

Since you mentioned it's an old fixture I'm going to assume it's been used for several years.

I'm not sure if the bulbs the seller includes with the fixture will have any coating left to grow plants.

Every 10-12 months, you swap out the bulbs.

Most of my 2 coralife fixtures have died from overheating issues. I don't think I'll be going with this brand again due to what I've experienced. Even with the built in cooling fans, it didn't seem to make much of a difference.

Why wouldnt you use 10k bulbs?

But yes if the fixture is old. I would probably replace the bulbs.

6500k bulbs put out enough blue light that's why.
Do you know how much red light these bulbs output ?

The replacement bulbs are crazy expensive. They produce excellent intensity but the cost of bulbs for me is not worth it.

I am also worried about the cost of replacement. I am going to pass on this one. Thanks for all the feedback!
