i4x4nmore, thanks for the great info! got the 36 in for similar reasons. Just curious did you get the dimmer?
No, no dimmer. At the time I was buying the lights, I couldn't even find all the separately-sold parts on one website. I did see a dimmer by Current-USA, but it was for a different 12" LED product of theirs. After taking the PAR readings however, I don't feel the need to dim them - two strips give me the lighting range I want for this tank. And with the third, I now have a spare for the eventual day that one of them goes bad.
But, now, if you can point me to a non-DIY digital controller that I can use to programatically dim the lights up at sunrise, and dim them down at sunset, I would be interested in that.
One day, I may make one using an Arduino controller
but I'm not in a position to be very DIY at the moment. But people have been making RGB LED controllers
to do fun stuff with LED light strips. It seems pretty simple to use the Pulse Width Modulation outputs of the board and write some simple code to do what I want.
Also glad to see you are back! Your CFL post and images were awesome!
Thanks! Appreciate it.
