Do a forum search and you'll find that it's been tried, tried, and tried again. Unless you're looking for "moon lighting", those SMD strip lights will NOT produce enough light to grow plants.

5050SMDs work great for shallow tanks and low-to-medium light levels.

I've even had high light from them on a tank that's about six inches deep.

Using 2 DIY 5050SMD strips

The amount of light it puts out is pretty high. My nana petites are growing at an insane rate emersed.

The tank is about 17 inches wide. So it's two 5050SMD strips of that length, daisy chained together at the end with a connector wire. Just plugs into a standard 2A power adapter.

It's the top of the Fluval Edge. Check some of the tank journals here on TPT for photos of those tanks.
