It really is up to personal taste. I like 6500K, while some people like 10000K (I think they are a little too blue).

I like 10,000k + 5000k, a little blue and a little red, covers most colors.

But since i cant find 10,000k screw in cfls, i just use a 6500k and a 5000k

I have a compact on one of my tanks... I get the same look from my T5HO

I would sug. looking at the replacement light bulbs $50.00 each for the compact and they should be changed every 6 months to keep them at optimal operations.

T5HO bulbs at my lfs are $12. for the 10K and $15. for the actinic

and the T5HO uses less watts per hour so smaller electric bill.

just food for thought

8000k

greens are vivid and the reds in your shrimp "pop"

it is IMPOSSIBLE to find 1 person who regrets going pressurized

if you do it right, you can spend a lot of money in this hobby...of course, if you do it wrong - you'll spend A LOT more

Which bulb is 50..... Research shows that they last way longer than 6 months.
